Natasha Franck and Stephanie Crespin aren’t just entrepreneurs, they’re global disruptors. Natasha is the founder and CEO of EON, a technology platform powering Digital ID for physical products–embedding sustainability, intelligence, and commerce in each physical product. Stephanie is the founder and CEO of fashion reselling businesses Reflaunt and Style Tribute–empowering brands with the technology to capture the secondhand market and embrace the circular economy. Learn about how these A-Listers got started, and where they—and the future of fashion—are headed.
What inspired you to launch your businesses?
Stephanie: When I founded Styletribute.com, a luxury secondhand marketplace, I realized there was something missing in the fashion/resale industry. It didn’t make sense that the same customer was buying a luxury piece from a brand and then reselling it through a completely different and disconnected experience. By connecting and integrating both experiences–of buying the piece with your brand and reselling it within the same ecosystem – I knew we’d unlock huge value for all stakeholders in the space: brands, customers, marketplaces, and the environment. That led to the launch of Reflaunt.
Natasha: I worked in cities before. Cities are really systems, and one of my biggest challenges was the fact that products couldn’t be connected or part of that system. This meant they could be wasted or underutilized. That sparked my imagination to say, “well, what if every product had an ID and was connected to a system?” which led to the creation of EON.
What role does sustainability play in your work?
N: For us, sustainability and profitability go hand in hand. The biggest way you can pivot to sustainability is to increase the profit of existing assets.
S: We need to build models and technologies that enable one to increase the profitability of a single piece. At the end of the day, if you use more of a single piece and have less volume of new products being produced and being put on our planet, we’ll be much better off.
What advice do you have for designers who are trying to introduce new sustainable methods or enhance their existing efforts?
N: One of the first things I say is ID your products first. We’re at an inflection point of being able to foster the connectivity of assets, which is going to create an entirely new kind of shared economy.
S: Circularity requires consideration of the whole customer journey. I always tell people that Reflaunt is not a marketing gimmick or additional service, it’s a completely new way of thinking about your business model.
